BioScout is an field mounted, connected, AI model based, real-time crop fungal disease monitoring system. The system is able to provide immediate warnings when spore levels are about threshold levels. It can currently (August 2025) detect: botrytis; powdery mildew; downy mildew; rusts in cereals, oilseeds, legumes, and fruit and veg; septoria; net blotch; blackleg; alternaria.
Fungal disease monitoring has traditionally been based on observation of disease growth on the plant, or on weather based models. BioScout’s solution attempts to measure fungal spores as they float through the air. Experience in the UK sugar beet industry with a similar technology – Spornado – showed good correlations between the direct measurement of spores and the appearance of the diseases, with the huge advantage that the spores are detectable before the disease occurs and at the stage when it is most easily treated (i.e. sprayed against).
BioScout have a European market manager, based in the UK, who can service Sweden.
Digitalised decision making components: Sense, Manage, Analyse, Report, with suggestions for React.
