1.4.1 TOTAL SUGAR LOSS : TOTAL TIME
For sugar beets stored for any meaningful period under commercial conditions, total sugar loss over the length of storage is expected to vary from between near zero and 10% of the initially available sugar volume. Higher levels are often observed, and under extreme conditions where beets deteriorate to the point of being unprocessable, commercial losses can be 100%.1
