Positives

• Simulate directly the conditions of the common impact type of a fall.
• Cheap and easy to implement if only desire is to measure rates of damage.

Drawbacks

• Energy at impact varies with every fall: is a factor of the beet weight x height.
• Can be difficult to control impact: roots have a tendence to rotate, especially from larger drop heights (eg. 2m).
